// a builder, a researcher, a storyteller

What's inside my mind?

Six pursuits, one curious kid โ€” robots, a tennis court, a research lab, a classroom I'm teaching in instead of sitting in, an upright bass, and a camera. Each one has its own story, in my own words. Start wherever you like.

Where to start

Each one of these is its own small world โ€” its own setbacks, its own wins, its own reasons I keep showing up.

The LEGO hand

In 5th grade, I built a life-scale hand out of LEGO pieces and hinges that realistically mimicked a human hand โ€” every joint, every degree of freedom. When people ask how I did it, I tell them the truth: I just looked at my own hand and built it. That same instinct โ€” observe, understand, recreate โ€” still drives everything I do in robotics, film, and research.
